Cattle were a firm trade at Swatragh Mart on Monday on the back of reduced sale numbers. Heifers sold to a peak of £1,055 for a 524kg Charolais animal (201p/kg).

Other noted prices saw a 402kg Charolais heifer sell to £875 (215p/kg), with several lots weighing 306kg to 388kg selling from £540 to £755.

Bullocks were a stronger trade and hit a sale-topping price of £1,250 for a 554kg Limousin animal (226p/kg), with £1,245 paid for a 602kg animal (207p/kg) of similar breeding.

Forward bullocks over 500kg sold to £1,075, with plainer cattle selling from 134p to 157p/kg.

At the Saturday sheep sale, hoggets sold to £99. Several pens made £98 for 28kg, with £94 to £96 paid for 24.5kg to 26kg lots. Plainer hoggets weighing 24kg to 25kg sold from £90 to £92.

Fat ewes sold to a top price of £115, with in-lamb ewes selling to £130.50.
