New Zealand - milk production falls in January

New Zealand milk production for January stood at just over 2.2bn litres, representing a 5% decline on the same month last year. Cumulative milk collections for the first eight months (June to January) of the 2018 New Zealand milking season now stand at 14.8bn litres, which is flat year on year.

China - phosphate exports to fall in 2018

Chinese exports of phosphates in 2018 are forecast to fall sharply relative to the 10m tonnes exported by the country in 2017. The reduction in phosphate exports follows the sharp fall in Chinese urea exports in the last year due to high production costs.

EU - beef imports from Brazil increase in January

Brazil exported more than 4,150t of frozen beef to the EU for January, which is an increase of more than two thirds (+67%) year on year. Chilled beef exports also increased in January, rising 10% year on year to just under 1,900t.

Paraguay - beef exports remain steady in January

Paraguay exported just under 22,400t of beef and beef byproducts for the month of January, representing a 2% increase year on year. Frozen beef exports from Paraguay were just over 11,600t, with Russia by far the largest buyer.
