Brazil – beef exports soar in June

Brazilian beef exports for June stood at 111,500t, which is more than double the 55,000t of beef that Brazil exported in the same month last year. Brazilian beef exports for the first half of 2019 stood at 680,000t, which is 27% ahead of last year.

Russia – grain harvest forecast to reach 118m tonnes

Despite very hot weather conditions affecting crops, Russia’s ministry for agriculture is maintaining its forecast that Russian grain production will hit 118m tonnes this year. Almost 80m tonnes of this harvest will be wheat.

US – corn production cut following floods

Following heavy rains and flooding last month, the International Grains Council (IGC) has cut its forecast for US maize (corn) production by almost 20m tonnes to a new estimate of 334m tonnes. After much disruption, US corn plantings are virtually complete.

China – dairy imports fall in May

Chinese dairy imports for the month of May stood at 237,200t, which is down 5% on the same month last year. Imports of whey almost halved to 28,500t as the African swine fever crisis continues to impact China’s pig herd.
