EU – beef imports down in 2020
Beef imports by the EU are down sharply in 2020. New figures show imports of fresh or chilled beef by the EU in the first 10 months of 2020 are down 23% year on year to just over 87,500t. Imports of frozen beef are also down, falling by 17% up to the end of October to 47,000t.
Brazil – La Nina to
hit soya bean crop

Brazilian market analysts have lowered their forecast for Brazilian soya bean production in 2021 to just over 134m tonnes due to the La Nina weather system. Brazilian maize (corn) production is also forecast lower at 103m tonnes.
Canada – wheat production to rise
The USDA has raised its forecast for Canadian wheat production in 2021 to just over 35m tonnes. If realised, this would the second-highest Canadian wheat harvest on record and almost 3m tonnes higher than its 2020 wheat harvest.
Australia – wheat production to double in 2021
The USDA has also raised its forecast for Australian wheat production. Last week, the USDA lifted its forecast for Australian wheat production in 2021 by 1.5m tonnes to a new forecast of 30m tonnes, which would be almost double the 15m tonnes of wheat produced by Australia this year.
