Comment: The potato market remains unchanged, with a slight increase in demand over recent days due to the return of more seasonal weather. Prices in the peeling market remain strong, with reasonable-quality Rooster commanding prices from €350 to €380/t.

Planting has come to a halt again due to heavy rainfall, with anecdotal reports indicating that a maximum of 600 acres have been planted in the country so far. The exceptional weather of last week allowed major progress on planting in midland and eastern regions of the UK.

The progress was similar across northern Europe, where planting progress is now estimated to be 10 days ahead of normal.

European future prices took a slight dip due to some growers selling out of ambient stores.

However, there is considerable demand from processors with exports from the UK still going to Belgian factories in particular.
