A farm near Birr, Co Offaly, was the chosen destination for the Connacht rugby team to take part in a team-building exercise. Host farmer and Connacht hooker Shane Delahunt milks around 200 Holstein Friesian cows in partnership with his father, Billy.

When asked by the Irish Farmers Journal if any of the team who made the journey to the farm were of any use for future jobs, the reply was not glowing: “Not one single person.”

“I gave them a tour of the farm, got them to bring the cows in for milking, showed them how to milk cows and showed them the zero-grazer.

“It was a good day out,” he said.

The team-building day out rounded off the first block of intensive preseason training.
