Hennessy Auctioneers will hold its monthly machinery auction at Portlaoise Mart (Eircode: R32 WT10) this coming Saturday 19 December. The auction will kick off at 11am sharp, with approximately 400 lots catalogued to go under the hammer.

This Saturday’s auction will be Hennessy’s third consecutive auction held entirely online. Although restrictions have been reduced, the firm said that holding Saturday’s auction entirely online is the best option in the interest of the safety of all their customers.

Gates will be open for the remainder of this week from 9am to 5pm for entry drop off and viewing only. The yard will also be open for viewing only on Saturday (19 December) morning from 8am to 11am.

Bidders will need to be registered on the Livestock Live App (LSL) ahead of Saturday’s auction and pay a €250 refundable deposit. For the less-tech savvy, proxy bids on larger items will be taken before the auction starts.

Commenting on the year that was, John Hennessy said: “We are very happy with the way that farmers and dealers of all ages have adapted to the online bidding over the course of the year. No doubt it has changed the traditional auction format for the future, farmers can now go about their days work while keeping an eye on the auction.

“However we still recommend that buyers inspect the items in the days leading up to the auction. Finally, we would like to wish all our buyers and sellers a happy Christmas and new year.”
