Students assembled 40 tractors for the 16km run around Kilkenny city. The lineup included a Marshall steam engine from 1912 and tractors of varying age, which organisers said were welcomed by hundreds of students when they arrived at the school.

Kilkenny College Transition Year Tractor Run 2018. \ Kilkenny CollegeChurch of Ireland bishop of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory Michael Burrows (pictured) was in attendance and participants raised raised €3,751 for the bishop’s charity appeal.

The Hegarty Transition Year Tractor Run Cup was awarded to David Lewis.

The judges were William Hutchinson, Robin Wallace and Bryan Daniels, who all have extensive agricultural experience and are past pupils of the college.

Organisers thanked JVW Transport, Kilkenny community policing unit, McCarthy Commercials and Agco Finance for supporting the event.
