The hamper includes Bord Bia Quality Assured Irish beef, Lily O’Brien’s and Butler's chocolates, Burren Smokehouse Salmon, Ballymaloe relish, Kerrygold butter, and Keogh’s crisps among many others. The foods were chosen by Bord Bia on the basis of producers who are already exporting to the US market.

The producers are also members of Bord Bia’s Origin Green sustainability programme which sets out Ireland’s ambition to become a world leader in the delivery of sustainable, high-quality food and drink products.

Well-known Irish chef Catherine Fulvio will also be helping to promote Irish beef in the US on St Patrick's Day by cooking Irish beef on the NBC’s Today Show. Furthermore tonight’s annual American Ireland Fund Dinner will have a distinctly Gaelic flavour with Irish beef making a return to the menu for the high profile event.

The US is Ireland’s fifth largest food and beverage export market, valued at €531 million in 2014, a 7% increase on 2013 figures.

Since January 2015, the US market has been open to Irish beef exports following a 16 year ban.
