Macra Na Feirme had hoped to hold this event in person, but unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, it was decided to take it online to be inclusive and allow for all clubs to take part.

The quiz started off with each team member taking part in a specialised topic, which included sports, current affairs, film and TV and popular music. Each member answered 10 questions on their topic and once this was completed, the main section started, which consisted of clubs answering 70 questions in total.

The results were announced live on the Macra Facebook page, where the contestants were joined by Macra national president Thomas Duffy.

The top 10 teams on the night received a gift kindly sponsored by Ornua.

The winners are as follows;

  • First place: Mountmellick Macra.
  • Second place: Termonfeckin Macra.
  • Third place: Callan Macra.
  • Tied fourth place: Donoughmore Macra and Maudabawn Macra.
  • Fifth place: Coolaney Macra.
  • Tied sixth place: Clonakilty Macra and Kenmare Macra.
  • Tied seventh place: Kilmallock Macra and Longwood and Kill Macra.
  • Well done to all clubs and everyone who took part on the night. A massive thanks to presiding officer Paul O’Regan, the competitions committee for organising and our sponsors Kerrygold.

    It’s with regret and disappointment that we have to announce the inevitable – the postponement of this year’s Queen of the Land festival, which was planned for next month, until November 2021.

    Considering the wellbeing of our supporters and adhering to the current public health guidelines, a large event like ours is not possible to run.

    We want to thank our main sponsor, the Tullamore Credit Union, who have kindly agreed to sponsor next year’s festival. They remain open for business with an increased offering, including their “Cultivate” loans, aimed at farmers.

    Special thanks also to all the counties and regions for their entries and understanding. We hope they’ll all be back next year for a bigger and better festival!
