LacPatrick’s decision to increase its price contrasts with its nearest neighbours, who all decided to drop their prices before the board met.

Aurivo cut its base price by 1.44c/l (excluding VAT) and its support payment by 1c/l, meaning that farmers will be paid 28.93c/l excluding VAT for April milk.

Glanbia cut both its base price and support payment by 1c/l and Dale Farm in Northern Ireland cut its price by 0.5p/l.

Arrabawn suppliers will receive 30.45c/l excluding VAT after the co-op also cut its base price and support payment.

Carbery did the same, bringing its price to 31.03c/l.

Dairygold is paying a 0.47c/l quality bonus for April supplies and a weather relief payment of 1c/l, bringing the price to 30.36c/l excluding VAT.

Intervention

Meanwhile, 41,958t of skimmed milk powder (SMP) was sold out of intervention last week. It sold for €1,150/t – €100/t higher than at last month’s sale.
