I would like to congratulate Glanbia Ireland for showing great leadership in bringing forward a four-year incentive scheme to encourage higher butterfat and protein in milk.
This is the right way forward on so many levels as this is what the market requires and pays for.
The scheme rewards producers who increase solids through feeding and breeding.

I would encourage all milk producers to put pressure on their milk buyers to follow Glanbia’s lead
Producing low solids milk brings with it high transport, storage and drying costs which is all worse for our carbon footprint.
All analysis and trials say it is right to pay on solids, and it is fully backed by the UFU.
I would encourage all milk producers to put pressure on their milk buyers to follow Glanbia’s lead because the entire industry will be better off. Ultimately it will put millions into farmers’ pockets.
