DEAR SIR:

I read in your paper last week an article about a TB vaccine that has been developed for badgers.

To my mind, it would be better to develop a vaccine that could be given to cattle. In this way, it would be possible to leave the badgers and deer to fend for themselves.

Over the years, TB has been like a plague to Irish farmers as well as causing a lot of hardship and upset to families all over Ireland.

If there was a vaccine available, it could be administered to cattle that were free of TB. This, together with a cull of infected animals, should clear TB from the cattle herd all over Ireland.
