Construction plant and machinery distributor McHale Plant Sales has committed to taking on more apprentices.

The decision comes on foot of its recent publication of a career guidance booklet entitled Career choices in the construction plant & equipment industry.

It encourages young people to view apprenticeship as a pathway

It encourages young people to view apprenticeship as a pathway to valuable skills training, and the route to a long-term career in what John O’Brien, McHale Plant Sales director, said is “a most exciting and stimulating industry”.

The McHale programme is being implemented in association with Solus, the state agency responsible for such programmes. In a related development, Adrian Canavan from Sligo, a McHale technician for over 15 years, recently took second place in a Komatsu Europe-wide Advanced Technical Competition held in Brussels in which he displayed “the most in-depth knowledge” when detecting faults that had been embedded in a range of machines for examination purposes.
