The Avondhu Macra club, Awbeg, was crowned Macra/FBD Capers 2018 champion last weekend at the Mallow Youth Centre, Cork. In second place was Freemount Macra, Avondhu, and in third was Bree Macra from Wexford.
Speaking at the event, Macra president James Healy said: ‘‘It was a fantastic evening. The variety of entertainment on show at Capers is always second to none and tonight was no different. Well done to all our finalists, and our hosts Avondhu Macra and special thanks to FBD for its continued support of this great competition.’’
Other prizes given on the night included best act, which went to Devil’s Bit Macra from north Tipperary. Best producer was Sinead Doyle from Bree Macra, best male was Joseph O’Sullivan from Clonakilty Macra, Carbery, and best female was Sheila O’Flynn from Freemount Macra, Avondhu.

Macra’s FBD Capers is a competition designed for clubs wishing to gain experience in producing and performing a light entertainment variety show, with performances ranging from singing and dancing to comedy and drama.
