Owned and run by Nigel Peavoy from Co Laois, the Coolrain and Monagh herd has been to the forefront of pedigree sales across Ireland for years, achieving top prices regularly at the Kilkenny bull sales.

This weekend will see the herd hold its first-ever production sale of Angus, Charolais and Limousin breeding females. On offer are 12 high-index heifers and one outstanding Angus bull carefully selected by Nigel.

Commenting on the sale, Nigel said that he is confident these cattle have the ability to make a lasting impression on any herd.

“We believe these heifers have the pedigree, performance, figures, and style to make a lasting impact in any herd,” he said.

“The sale includes daughters from some of our very best cow families, giving buyers a truly unique opportunity to secure genetics never released before.”

There is a range of bloodlines on offer, with a mix of proven and upcoming sires, such as Intelagri Matteo, Drumline S1185, Clenagh Superior, and the herd’s very own Coolrain Patriarch standing in Progressive Genetics.

Health and management are of utmost importance in the herd, testing negative for Johne’s disease since 2018, consistently maintaining risk level 1 status with no positive cases recorded. All cattle are BVD-free and TB-tested within 30 days, suitable for immediate export.

Conducted by Denis Barrett through MartEye, the online timed auction will open on 17 October and close on Monday 20 October, with a viewing on farm at R32RY10 on Saturday 18 October from 12pm to 5pm.
