Appointed head of ruminant nutrition at Agritech
David Lawrence from Tullow, Co Carlow, completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science Degree in animal and crop production with UCD. Following this, David completed a PhD with University College Dublin and Teagasc, based at Moorepark. During his research, David examined feed-to-yield systems and aspects of grassland management and improving production techniques for autumn calving dairy herds.
David says: “I look at the farm, the farmer and the outcome needed on an individual farm basis to provide a solution that is rewarding for the farm business and those involved. I focus on optimising animal performance and pasture production to achieve this. I very much look forward to bringing solutions to Agritech’s broad client base. ”

Appointed drinks specialist for the US and Canada at Bord Bia
Christine Farrell hails from Clontarf in Dublin and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies with a specialism in marketing from Dublin City University. During her time in Bord Bia, she completed a three-month secondment in Canada, working on Bord Bia’s market insights, strengthening customer and client engagement, and delivering commercially impactful supports for Irish food and drink exporters.
Speaking about her recent appointment, Christine says: “I am delighted to take up this new role with Bord Bia for the US and Canada during such an important growth period for the Irish drinks sector. I look forward to working closely with producers and customers to help deliver meaningful commercial opportunities.”

Appointed managing director at Leonard Advisory
Jamie Leonard started his career at The Clare People newspaper, where he got early marketing experience in a new start-up media business. Jamie joined the Irish Farmers Journal in 2008 where he progressed to circulation and marketing manager.
He also served as board director and treasurer of Agri Aware, before moving to ifac as director of agribusiness in 2024. In 2026, he founded Leonard Advisory, bringing his experience to Irish SMEs and agribusinesses.
Speaking about his role, Jamie says, “I’m most looking forward to using my energy, experience and passion to help businesses achieve their growth ambitions and solve problems that have been holding them back.”

Appointed sales manager at OMEX
Michael Farrell, a fourth-generation tillage farmer from Co Carlow, joins the OMEX business to support existing customer relationships while driving further expansion across both the tillage and grassland sectors. Michael’s appointment comes at a time of increasing demand for liquid fertiliser solutions, as Irish farmers look for greater efficiency, accuracy and reliability in nutrient management.
Speaking about his appointment, Michael says: “Liquid nitrogen fertiliser offers significant benefits over granular, especially application accuracy, product quality, timing flexibility, uptake, cost and increasingly environmental considerations.
“I’m able to share my knowledge and add value to tillage and grassland farmers and key distributor partners.”

Appointed area business manager at Syngenta
Bryan Kearney has joined Syngenta as an area business manager. He will manage the company’s field trials programmes while supporting the commercial business team in delivering innovative crop-protection solutions. Brian has a Master’s in Crop Protection and Agronomy from Harper Adams University. He began his career in agronomy with Eurofins, managing independent trials across a broad range of crops throughout the UK.
Speaking about his new appointment, Brian says: “I am excited by the opportunity to collaborate with farmers and agronomists while growing in my new role with Syngenta, reinforcing the company’s commitment to bringing sustainable new solutions to the Irish market.”

Conor Craig from a pedigree Angus and commercial suckler herd in Co Longford and is a regular attendee at summer agricultural shows, competing in the cattle section. He joined Alltech on the career development programme in 2024 after graduating with a BaAgrSc from UCD.
Speaking about his appointment Conor says: “Since joining Alltech, I have been able to develop my skillset and knowledge through exposure to world-class consultants/subject matter experts, in-depth training in nutrition and diet formulation. I have completed training in Italy and have worked in the UAE.
“I am thrilled to have moved into the beef specialist role as it allows me to work alongside large farms to optimise their animal performance”.
