I see Denmark’s biggest meat producer, Danish Crown group, has announced it is to cut about 800 jobs over the next two to three years as part of a restructuring.
Last month the company said intensifying competition for cattle in Germany and Denmark, along with weaker demand for beef, was putting pressure on the farmer-owned co-operative’s profit margins.
I note that the job cuts are at white-collar level and I wonder if the company will lean on artificial intelligence (AI) more.
The Dealer has a long memory and has seen pressure come on farmer-owned meat businesses before. Could it be happening again?
