The deadline for applications for the On-Farm Badger Biosecurity Scheme was extended at the end of last week by Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon.

The new deadline is Midnight on Sunday 7 June. Farmers can avail of a support payment of 40% of the cost of eligible water and feed troughs for bovines or fencing to keep bovines from accessing badger sett openings.

Meanwhile, farmers should also take note that the late application deadline for Basic Income Support for Sustainability and other scheme applications is Tuesday 9 June 2026.

Late applications are subject to a 1% penalty per working day.
