Farmers awaiting their 2025 advance payment under the Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) will be glad to hear that another payment run has taken place this week, with €9.69m paid.

A Farmers' Charter of Rights meeting held this week heard that this has brought the total payments paid to ACRES under the 2025 advance to approximately 87% of applicants.

This means that upwards of 5,000 participants received payment this week.

The meeting also heard that the processing of applications of payment is progressing well ahead of 2024 and it is expected that 95% to 96% of farmers will have received an advance payment by the middle of January.

Other payments

The latest schemes payment update published by the Department of Agriculture shows almost €3.3m paid this week to 269 applicants under the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS).

The payment is 100% of an applicant’s payments, with advance and balancing payments already issued.

This brings the number of farmers paid to 117,230, with another 2,500-plus applicants awaiting payment.

As already reported, there was €85.7m paid under the Eco Scheme balancing payments, bringing the total payment to €287.43m paid to 112,610 participants.

Payments worth almost €200,000 under the Areas of Natural Constraint issued to about 100 farmers.
