The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI), in conjunction with the Farm Safety Partnership (FSP), is to issue up to 8,030 farm safety questionnaires from 28 January.

Farms have been randomly selected to take part in the survey, which will include a number of questions on a variety of topics.

These include:

  • Non-fatal accidents.
  • Farm work practises.
  • Areas of hazard.
  • Farm safety investments.
  • According to the two organisations, results from the survey will help to shape future advice for farmers on the issue of safety.

“Contribution to this survey is completely voluntary, but we are expecting a good response as farm safety awareness is high across the industry, and we are urging farmers to take responsibility for making sure they follow safe working practises at all times,” Harry Sinclair, chair of the Farm Safety Partnership said.

Sinclair added that all information received through the survey will be treated as strictly confidential.
