Ornua announced on Thursday that it is introducing a new operating model and is appointing Cesar França to the newly created role of chief commercial officer and Jason Musk to the role of chief operating officer.
França has been with Ornua for a year since his appointment as managing director of global foods, where he oversaw the growth of Kerrygold as a global food brand.
Prior to joining the co-op, França spent 16 years with Nestlé.
Musk – no relation to the American carmaker – is a new hire for Ornua and previously held supply chain roles at Compleat Food Group and Nomad Foods. He has 35 years in the nutrition, dairy and beverage FMCG sectors.

Explaining the changes, Ornua chief executive Conor Galvin said the new operating model “marks the first step in the delivery of a new and ambitious growth strategy, which will drive value for Ornua’s member co-operatives and Irish farming families, while serving the needs of our customers across the globe".
“By refining our approach and simplifying how we operate, we are ensuring we have a robust platform to innovate, evolve and thrive in a transforming world.”
The new model will see the integration of Ornua’s foods and ingredients businesses under França, with Musk in charge of efficient operation of that model.

The changes will also see the establishment of a new route to market and member relations business with specific responsibility for the development of profitable routes to market for Irish dairy products produced by Ornua’s member co-operatives.
The co-op said that leadership of that new business unit will be announced in due course.
A spokesperson for Ornua told the Irish Farmers Journal that there are no redundancies envisaged as part of the new operating model, adding that the changes will bring new opportunities to the organisation.
