Paddy Power has suspended betting on the IFA election, after much activity on the market on Friday.

“Tipperary man Tim Cullinan was the outsider in the race, according to our odds.

"However, following activity in this market he was cut to favourite before betting was subsequently suspended in the aftermath of Friday night’s live debate,” a spokesperson for Paddy Power told the Irish Farmers Journal.

Cullinan, along with the other two candidates John Coughlan and Angus Woods, took part in an Irish Farmers Journal Around the Editor's Table live debate on Friday night with editor Justin McCarthy.

Paddy Power had put Angus Woods down as the even-money favourite to win the IFA presidential election, with John Coughlan coming in at 2/1.

Voting

Voting starts on Monday 25 November for the IFA election and will continue for almost three weeks until 13 December.

The next president and deputy president of the association will be revealed at the count on 17 December.
