Easyfix will have a number of products on display at the Ploughing this year. The company will be located at block 1, row 12, stand 252.

Slat rubber matting remains its biggest-selling product. According to Niamh Killeen, marketing manager with Easyfix, the slat rubber products are sold to the beef, dairy and veal industries in 40 countries around the world.

PJ Burke, sales director with Easyfix, says there are two types of slat rubber products the SR and the SDR. Both systems have an eight-year warranty and are designed to reduce the incidence of lameness.

The main differences between them, according to PJ, is that the SR system has a high grip profile while the SDR system has a smooth and sloped surface to facilitate run-off. As a guide, slat rubber costs €55/m2.

Feed barrier

The company has now also started to produce Evolve feed barriers. The barriers are very different to what’s typically on the market. They are comprised of a galvanised steel frame with curved plastic divisions.

The new “Evolve” feed barriers will attract attention.

PJ claims that the barrier provides better access to feed due to the increased reach of the animals. The divisions give some flexibility for animals feeding but PJ maintains that they are of solid construction to hold animals securely in their pen. “It also helps eliminate injuries and marks associated with steel alternatives,” said PJ. He says these barriers can be adjusted for different animal types. This system has a five-year warranty.

Cow mattress and cubicles

The cow mattress and cubicles will be showcased this year. The Jupiter F mattress incorporates an integrated brisket board at the front and pillows on two sides. PJ says the mattress encourages a comfortable lying position for cows in the cubicle bed.

He said it is suitable for all cubicle sizes. The Easyfix cubicles were launched in 2009.

They are made from a combination of plastic and rubber. Easyfix has sold over 250,000 cubicles since the launch in 40 countries around the world. The main difference between these cubicles and steel ones is the greater flexibility according to PJ.

“The flexible cubicle arms, rubber loop and rubber neck rail provide greater freedom of movement for cows and it helps to prevent injuries” said PJ. There are a number of different types available. As a guide each cubicle costs approximately €100.

Pig enrichment

The company will be promoting a set of new interesting products that are designed to keep pigs in indoor systems motivated and occupied.

“Pigs biting each other while housed can be a big problem for pig units but our products are helping to reduce the problem” PJ explained.

Easyfix products Luna product range will are designed to keep all sizes of pigs entertained during housing.

The products are, for all intents and purposes, toys for pigs to play with. There are different-sized products for different age groups. The Easyfix Luna range is designed for piglets, weaners, finishers and sows. It features 12 protruding rubber legs with only three legs in contact with the floor at any one time.

The product is left on the floor of the pig area for use. Larger models are used for older pigs. The Astro model is suspended from the roof of the pig house where finishers and sows can bite the legs. Prices for pig enrichment products range from approximately €15 to €35.
