Take the Thrive slaughter performance test to see how well you can judge the carcase weight, conformation score and fat score of these heifers, slaughtered off grass in mid-October.

At this stage, just nine heifers of the 2020-born stock remain on farm, with the majority of these to be drafted for slaughter in the next week to 10 days.

Since housing, they have been on a diet of 69DMD silage plus 4kg/day of concentrate.

Of the 141 cattle to be slaughtered this year on the Thrive demo farm, 90 or 64% were drafted off grass with an average carcase weight of 264kg for heifers and 318kg for bullocks at an average slaughter age of just over 20 months.
