This week's notes cover breeding strategies for hill flocks, a recap on the sheep welfare scheme mineral supplementation option and breeding ewe lambs.
It is worth recapping on the option of mineral supplementation post-breeding, with breeding commencing or approaching shortly in hill flocks.
The supplementation programme selected must ensure that the products, or combination of products used, provide supplementation for at least 60 days post-breeding. The date at which breeding commences is the date rams are joined with ewes.

Where there is a split in the breeding season for different batches of ewes, this should be recorded in the scheme recording book. Receipts of products used must also be retained.
Dispatch documents
A number of factory procurement personnel are highlighting the requirement of adequately completing dispatch documents for sheep of different farm origin.
In such cases, the entire 12-digit tag number must be recorded. For purchased animals, it is also important to complete the residency period, with this influencing payment of the quality assurance bonus in some plants.
