Students from fourth, fifth and sixth year at Kilkenny College will take part in the college's annual tractor run this year, which takes place on 2 May.

Departing from JVW Transport in Gowran at 6.30pm, the cortege is expected to arrive in Kilkenny College around 7.30pm.

A group of 50 students from fourth, fifth, and sixth year, a mix of girls and boys, will take part driving tractors in the convoy.

The Carlow Kilkenny Home Care Team is the chosen charity which will benefit from the proceeds of the fundraising effort.

This year will see the awarding of the Kilkenny College tractor run Hegarty perpetual cup, which will be awarded to the student whose tractor is in the best condition. A panel of judges will assess each tractor.

Deputy principal at Kilkenny College Aubrey O’Keeffe told the Irish Farmers Journal that “the annual tractor run has been a great success and is in its seventh year running.

"The tractors will be welcomed to Kilkenny College on Thursday evening by the 450 students that board here," O'Keeffe said.
