Met Éireann has issued a status yellow snow and ice warning for the entire country, with a forecast for hail, sleet and snow.

The warning will be in place from 6pm Saturday 23 January until 12pm on Sunday.

While the UK Met office has not issued a warning for Northern Ireland, there is a snow warning over most of Scotland and temperatures are still expected to be cold.

In addition, there is a snow and ice warning issued for Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick on Saturday afternoon.

Met Éireann has warned of icy and hazardous conditions over much of the country.

Soil conditions are at saturation point across most of the country and severe weather conditions are likely to hamper farmers’ hopes of spreading slurry in areas where the open period has begun.
