Almost 2,000 farms, homes and businesses have been left without power after storm Gareth hit on Tuesday. The west coast took the brunt of the storm with Donegal worst affected.

Up to 769 homes and businesses in the Glenties in Donegal are without power.

Parts of Leitrim, Galway and Limerick are also experiencing power cuts.

ESB Networks says that its crews have been on site since first light to restore power to affected areas.

While Met Éireann weather warnings are no longer in place, strong blustery winds are still expected throughout the day.
