The Irish Farmers Journal understands the board of Ornua, home of the Kerrygold brand, has agreed a complete restructure following more than 12 months of talks. At a board meeting on Wednesday, members agreed to the formation of two boards. The move will see all member co-op chiefs and chairs stepping down off the current Ornua board and moving to a new advisory board.

The new Ornua board will then be made up of eight non-conflicted members from the shareholding co-ops, along with a member from each of the IFA, ICMSA and ICOS. This board will also have three independent board members and two executives from Ornua.

These changes are expected to be approved in early 2020 and implemented in the following months.
