Advisers and consultants report a spike in interest from farmers looking to submit TAMS applications in recent days.
Many comment the rush is being driven by a lack of information regarding the opening of further tranches, with tranche 17 the last tranche detailed on the Department’s website.
The Department has previously stated that a decision on further tranches would be taken closer to deadline for tranche 17, so it is possible that there may be developments in this area next week.

At the time of asking, the Department advised that for approvals that are due to expire in July, where work has commenced and completion has been delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions, applicants may contact the local office that issued their approval and that any such requests for an extension will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
Some questions have arisen in recent days regarding applicants who are facing similar challenges for approvals that are due to expire in early August. There is no official advice published in this regard but for applicants in such a situation it may be worth contacting their local office to see if there is any similar leniency for this.
