Met Éireann has warned that temperatures are to fall to as low as -4°C overnight on Thursday and into Friday morning.
The forecaster has extended its yellow low temperature and ice warning, with freezing and “hazardous” conditions set to persist from 10pm on Thursday to midday on Friday.
There will be a “sharp to severe frost with icy surfaces” and some “freezing fog patches” in places.

The warning by Met Éireann applies to the entire country, with farmers in all 26 counties encouraged to prepare.
Met Éireann has also forecast that there will be snow overnight in counties Wicklow and Dublin, particularly in upland areas.
