Parts of the country have been buffetted by yellow and orange weather warnings, but the extreme weather is due to ease on Monday evening with clear spells to follow.

Widespread fog is expected on Tuesday morning, according to Met Éireann, with a cold start and lows of 2°C.

The day is expected to get sunnier as it progresses, with temperatures reaching highs of 15°C.
