A status yellow snow and ice warning is in place until Saturday. Wintry showers overnight will be heavier in the west and north, with accumulations of snow likely on hills. Temperatures will drop to between 0°C and -3°C with severe frost and extensive icy patches, and will only rise to a maximum of 3°C to 6°C on Wednesday. More wintry showers will occur during the day, especially over the north and west, but many areas will have a dry day with sunny spells.
