After the paper went to print last week, Centenary Thurles became the first co-op or merchant to officially announce harvest grain prices for 2025.

The full input bonus equates to €8/t. Farmers also get paid between €2/t and €7/t depending on distance from the co-op.

The prices below were released by the co-op and include the full input bonuses, but exclude VAT and haulage. This means the base price for green barley delivered at harvest was €190/t.

  • Green feed barley – €198/t.
  • Green feed wheat – €208/t.
  • Green rye – €192/t.
  • Green oats – €190/t.
  • Green beans - €245/t.
  • This week, native dried barley was reported below €210/t and below €205/t.

Native dried wheat was reported at €215 to €220/t.

Drying charges would have to come off these to get a green price, but merchants and co-ops will have different drying and handling costs and will have managed grain differently throughout the year to come to their final price.

You should be paid on account where harvest prices have not been settled.

Production was estimated up another 72m tonnes from last month’s report.

The report stated approximately 90m acres of maize were planted in the country, the highest area since 1933 if accurate. Foreign maize grain production was forecast down, with declines in the EU, Serbia, Russia and Moldova.
