Wheat futures continued their declined in Paris and in Chicago on Friday, with the trend appearing to continue in Europe on Monday morning.
Europe
On the Euronext exchange in Paris (MATIF), wheat prices fell on the back of good weather reports from eastern Europe.
Futures for delivery in December 2015 and 2016 both fell by around €1/t, at €176.25/t and €189/t, respectively.
Prices for other grains, however, remained steady.
Maize futures were stable at €161.25/t for November 2015 and €179.25 for November 2016.
Rape prices recovered slightly with November 2015 futures up €0.25/t at €377/t and November 2016 futures increasing by €0.50/t to €356/t.
Chicago
Wheat futures continued to fall on the Chicago exchange (CBOT) on Friday too, after positive weather forecasts for crops recently planted in the US plains.
Futures for SRW wheat in Chicago were down significantly, dropping by $3.70/t to finish on $180.90/t (€158.10/t) for December 2015. For December 2016 delivery, the price fell by $3.30/t to €195.30/t (€170.70/t).
Maize prices picked up slightly in Chicago on Friday, closing at $148.30/t (€129.63/t) for December 2015 futures, up $0.50/t, and $159.2/t (€139.20/t) for December 2016, up just $0.30/t.
