On a very warm but overcast day, John Hayes agri-contractors harvests spring barley for Clonakilty Distillery using a New Holland TX62 combine harvester with Galley Head Lighthouse as a backdrop. The barley will be used to make whiskey. The spring barley was Goldthorpe, a specialist ancient seed which has been used since 1910. Moisture content was 17% with a yield of two 1/2 tonnes per acre, with 15 acres to be harvested in Galley Head, Co Cork. \ Andy Gibson
