Sligo couple Denise Sweeney and Jason Barber certainly held the perfect farm-themed wedding recently.

Tractors to the church, quad bikes at the reception and lambing on the big day.

Both Denise and Jason come from farming backgrounds and help out on Jason’s father’s farm.

“We have been together 10 years and everyone had waited for this day for a long time, so we wanted to give them something to remember," explained Denise.

Storm Jorge

With Storm Jorge having arrived the morning of the wedding, it only seemed fitting that Denise would arrive to the church in none other than the couple's Massey Fergusson 4270.

“With all the storms lately, I thought what better way to get to the church than our Massey Fergusson 4270 and sure enough, storm Jorge hit that morning, but I wasn’t going to let him rain on my parade," she said.

While Denise was preparing herself for the big day, her soon-to-be husband Jason was down in the lambing shed.

“I asked if the ram and bull could be held back for three weeks this year, but as the wedding drew closer, I soon realised my request was not met,” laughed Denise.

Another special guest that made a grand appearance was the couple’s heifer Ruby Octavia.

“Eight of us bought her as a syndicate in Carrick-on-Shannon at the winter fair in November last year and the lads didn’t let me down. They had her brushed up and ready for her first show of the year. The holy show!" she said.
