Scottish Forestry is promoting tree planting at this year’s Biggar Show on Saturday 20 July.

Farmers can find out how to obtain up to £6,210/ha for planting trees, with extra cash for fencing.

The southeast of Scotland has seen an upturn in tree planting recently and the Scottish Government is keen to continue tree planting with a higher planting target of 33 million trees per year by 2025.

Target

To hit the target, farmers are being offered Forestry Grant Scheme support, which can still use the land to claim Basic Payment Scheme.

Landowners located within the Central Scotland Green Network Area (stretching from Ayrshire and Inverclyde in the west, to Fife and the Lothians in the east) may also be eligible for additional payment of up to £2,500/ha.

Farmers interested can find out more at the Scottish Forestry stand at Biggar Show on 20 July.
