The Irish Farmers Journal understands that two arrests have been made in Lodgewood, Ferns, Co Wexford, where a protracted land dispute is coming to a head.

This morning, a combine appeared on the 150ac holding at the centre of the dispute, which is all under tillage and started to cut spring barley.

The 150ac is owned by John B Dockrell Ltd, who bought it from a vulture fund in 2017. The land was previously owned by John and Michael Kinsella.

Squad cars

Three squad cars were at the scene within minutes and it is understood that two men were arrested and that warrants were issued for the arrest of John and Michael Kinsella, the brothers at the centre of the dispute.

The Irish Farmers Journal understands that the gardaí were moving to impound the machinery involved in the harvesting, which includes at least one combine.

Last week, John Kinsella spent some time in Mountjoy prison and he subsequently purged contempt and agreed to comply with court orders to not trespass on the lands.
