Fire brigades from Carrick-On-Suir and Clonmel in Tipperary are tackling a large fire at Carrick-On-Suir Mart.

It is understood that the fire started at the mart around 7pm on Monday evening and that no animals were inside the mart at the time.

The cause of the blaze is not known at this stage.

Tipperary Fire and Rescue posted images of the blaze on social media, saying that there are a number of appliances, including its hydraulic platform (HP), in attendance.

“Once a fire has spread to the roof of a building and has weakened the structural integrity of it, the HP offers our firefighters the ability to work ‘on’ the roof without actually setting foot on it. Reducing possible risk to our firefighters in the process,” Tipperary Fire and Rescue said.

Anthony Fitzpatrick captured this footage of the blaze.
