This week, as part of the Irish Farmers Journal's Autumn Suckler Management series, we take a look at managing forage crops.

In this video, beef livestock specialist Matthew Halpin and Tullamore Farm manager Shaun Diver outline the key steps in calculating the yield of a forage crop. Steps include simplifying the measurement of a sample area as well as options for cutting and weighing the sample.

In the next video, coming soon, Matthew and Shaun take out the white board to explain how feed-out and days feeding of forage crops is calculated.
