Monday

Met Éireann expects a wintry start to the week with a mix of heavy and thundery showers.

There’s also a risk of rain, hail, sleet and even snow as temperatures range between 2°C and -2°c.

Tuesday

Some sun expected today but still cold with widespread showers. Temperatures of up to 7°C in the coastal regions in the west and south.

However, it’s forecast to be colder and wintry in inland parts of Ulster.

Wednesday

Dry and bright in most of the east and southeast of the country. But there will be a higher chance of drizzle and rain in the west and north of the country.

It will be a cold day with widespread frost and a risk of ice patches. Temperatures between 3°C and -3°C.

Thursday

Another cold day with morning frost expected. However, there will be some drizzle with slightly warmer temperatures pervading.

Friday

A day of patchy drizzle according to the Met Éireann, with moderate southwesterly breezes.

Rain

Changeable weather expected in the week ahead according to Met Éireann.

However, less rain than usual with most areas in receipt of below average rainfall to date this year.

The exception being the east of the country which has received up to 120% of the norm.

Temperatures

It is expected to turn colder in the week ahead with temperatures 1 to 2 degrees below normal in a number of areas.

Drying and spraying

Drying and spraying conditions are not optimal in the week ahead.

Field conditions

Poorly drained soils are waterlogged and most land is currently at saturation point according to Met Éireann.
