Winners at the recent FBD Young Farmer awards met MEPs working on the CAP after 2020 in Brussels on Thursday.
Young farmer of the year Daniel Hawthorne and sheep winner Luna Orofiamma, joined Macra representatives and beef farmers Michael Kenny from Co Offaly, Eamon Cassels from Co Meath and Karen Elliffe from Co Westmeath on the delegation.
They were hosted by European Parliament first vice president Mairead McGuinness at the Young Farmers' Congress of the European People's Party (EPP), which includes Fine Gael.
"It’s very important for the young farmers to hear the vision of the Parliament's draftsperson on CAP reform, Ms Esther Herranz Garcia. Of particular interest were her views on generational renewal," said MEP McGuinness.
They also met members of the Parliament's agriculture committee to share their views on the role of CAP in assisting farmers of all ages.
