Pat Gilhooley’s wife Mary and the Gilhooley and Meehan families wish to acknowledge the wonderful expression of sympathy and kindness shown to us following our huge loss on the death of Pat.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to his good neighbours and friends for all your help. Our thanks to those who sent mass cards, letters of sympathy, phone calls, text messages, condolence messages on RIP.ie and Shannonside and to those who called to the house. To the many friends and neighbours who lined the route to salute Pat’s remains coming from Ballinamore to his home on the Monday evening and the many mourners who lined the funeral route and walked with Pat on his final journey, we express our sincere thanks. A special thanks to Pat’s friends and colleagues within IFA and Sinn Féin and to IFA president Tim Cullinan and Martin Kenny TD for their kind words of tribute.

Pat Gilhooley RIP. \Finbarr O'Rourke

We are grateful to Dr Bourke, Nurse Teresa Quinn and staff, to the public health nurses Laisir Gilbride and Imelda McWeeney for their great care and attention to Pat. We also thank the staff of Sligo General Hospital and particularly the doctors and nurses of the North West Hospice.

A special thanks to Fr Brian Conlon, chaplain of Sligo General Hospital, for his pastoral care to Pat during his illness and his compassion to the family. A sincere thanks to Fr Johnnie Cusack and Fr Sean Mawn for their support at this difficult time and to Fr Johnnie who celebrated Pat’s funeral Mass. Thanks to Brendan and Aoife Sammon and Síle Murray for their beautiful hymns in the church and thanks to the readers. We also thank those who carried symbols of Pat’s life to the altar.

Our deep appreciation to Liam McGirl, funeral undertaker, for his caring and dignified manner while he carried out the funeral arrangements. A special thanks to the gravediggers who prepared Pat’s final resting place with great care. We thank also the kind neighbours who supplied food over the days of the funeral. Finally, we know Pat would want us to thank the great neighbours who helped out with Pat’s farm work and cattle over the period of Pat’s illness and death. A special word of thanks to Pádraig and Gavin. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an appreciation of our gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
