Bulls weighing 500kg and over are now eligible for export to Algeria under the new health certificate agreed between the Department of Agriculture and Algerian authorities.

Indications are that all breeds are eligible and no age limit applies.

Irish exporters will now seek to negotiate sizeable contracts which can be delivered by approved walk-on, walk-off boats. Algerian buyers will be interested in both beef-bred and dairy-bred bulls.

Libya

Curzon Livestock in Cork has now started buying bulls for its next order for Libya. It is buying Friesian bulls between 250kg and 500kg. The shipment will be in early March.
