One per cent feeds 99% of the population. Do you think democracy will serve well the 1%?
Given that the European Union needs extra money for defence and that there is already a hole in the agricultural budget, factor in our per cent of voting power – it looks bad for us farmers.

If the IFA had more funding, would it take more direct action? Can we best a French farmer protest?
Now more than ever we need to protect our farmers and our farming way of life. We are one of a kind. The cheap food policy is our number one enemy – not suppliers or buyers. The CAP is our compensation and the public’s investment in maintaining food production security.
Our second danger is our own Government. So little do they notice us, that the Minister for Agriculture was not aware that the last budget tax increase could affect a farmer. Maybe in time they will notice or even respect us.
