Clare Marts is running a beef information evening next Wednesday 28 October in Ennis mart at 7.30pm.

The meeting will focus on bringing farmers the latest information on the Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP) and discuss optimum breeding policies to meet the requirements of the scheme while also ensuring production of top-quality cattle.

The ICBF and Munster AI will deliver breeding advice through a live demonstration of stock.

Bord Bia’s Joe Burke will present a beef market update and outlook and also give a market update for the live export market which has witnessed recovery in recent weeks. The event will be chaired by Justin McCarthy, editor of the Irish Farmers Journal.

Manager Martin McNamara encouraged farmers to take advantage of the opportunity to get the latest advice on BDGP and beef markets.

“Confidence in mart trading has been high for much of the year. The upturn in weather in recent weeks is giving farmers in the west a great boost to keep stock out. A month ago, it looked like stock would be housed in mid-September but now farmers will be able to keep stock out until November.”
