Spreading a compund fertiliser will give a higher growth response on grazing swards compared with using straight nitrogen products.

With rain and higher temperatures forecast towards the end of the week, take the opportunity to spread fertiliser on grazing ground to boost grass growth.
Spreading 20 to 30 units of nitrogen (N) will suffice where fertiliser has not been applied since early May.
Rather than spreading straight N, opt for a product containing phosphate (P), potash (K) and sulphur (S).

Using such products will give a higher growth response, especially on soils that are lacking in moisture.
While these products are more expensive to purchase on a per-tonne basis, there is very little difference per bag spread or per unit of fertiliser applied.
