Too bad for any discerning drinker, if you ask me.

Martin announced a review of all products in the coming months to root out suppliers from "the EU’s customs union [which] is a protectionist system".

With bars and suppliers across the Republic of Ireland, I wonder how strictly Whetherspoon will apply the policy over here. Will Irish beer and whiskey disappear from its Irish pubs? Will the company single-handedly reverse centuries-old trade flows and import British beef into Ireland for its burgers?

For the moment, the chain continues to advertise Diageo's Dublin-brewed Hop House 13 as one of its flagship draught beers.
